By exploring the Upper Amazon we have experienced a magical combination of wildlife. Today we had a marvelous taste of it at two of the most magical places of the area.
Exploration brought us in the morning to a natural treasure, the Amazon Natural Park. Ever since we arrived, a display of magnificent trees decorated the jungle making us feel like we are inside a plant paradise. Farther into the trail, the symphony of birds combined with insect sounds was the perfect sonata to our ears.
The presence of a canopy trail was something that let us explore the upper part of the vegetation in order to witness what was found above us. At the end of the visit we could enjoy the presence of native people that showed us how all the different products they manufacture with such creativity.
Once back on board Delfin II, we started navigation to our next destination, Nauta Caño. Exploration to Nauta Caño started in a very comfortable skiff ride up stream. At the very beginning, the presence of pink river dolphins tested our photography skills.
A landscape decorated with tall secropia trees, was the perfect home for different kinds of Amazon birds that were found in the area: black collared hawks, great egrets, lesser kiskadees, and Amazon king fishers were only part of the marvels that the Amazon basin had for us during the afternoon.
Simultaneous to the skiff ride, a kayaking opportunity offered us a different idea to explore Nauta Caño. The presence of saddleback tanmarin monkeys made it perfect for an enclosure of today´s expedition. A marvelous sunset behind the tall trees of the forest was the indicator that tomorrow the Amazon adventure continues at this living paradise.
