It is the second day of our voyage around the Galapagos Islands and we have visited just the center islands so far. During the morning the National Geographic Islander anchored on the most popularly landscaped island, Bartolome. Its explosive volcanic eruptions plus the erosion caused by the water has formed spectacular shapes on the landscape here. So in order to enjoy this place we had to start just before breakfast, which meant waking up a little bit early. But once we got to the top, everybody could tell how worth it was to sacrifice some sleep.

Later after breakfast water activities started, like enjoying the golden beach or snorkeling with the tropical fish and even penguins.

With all the different options done in the morning and a nap after an Ecuadorian lunch buffet, we were ready with regained energy to enjoy the afternoon.

Rabida is another good place for water activities, so the options here were snorkeling and kayaking.  Snorkelers could find some turtles, fish, and a lucky octopus that almost escaped from us, and kayakers had turtles and the landscape of the red island we visited.

Soon after the water activities, the red-sand beach called us to take a short walk along it. We saw ghost crabs, mockingbirds, sea lions, and even a glimpse of some bottlenose dolphins swimming to get their food. The world in this very moment gave us all we needed and some more.

But, we are just getting started with the Galapagos and there is a lot more coming the next days.
