Today, we woke up to a pre-breakfast hike on Floreana Island. This is one the first inhabited islands in this archipelago, with the richest and most mysterious human history in the Galapagos. However,  during this hike, the real stars of the show were flamingoes! This visiting site has a lagoon were flamingoes congregate for feeding, mating, and nesting. We were very fortunate to see several of them interacting.

The rest of the morning was spent in the water, snorkeling with playful juvenile sea lions, sea turtles, and varieties of fish around beautiful Champion Islet. For the afternoon, Captain Garces moved the position of the ship towards Post Office Bay, were we kayaked, paddle-boarded and went back in time at Post Office Bay, delivering and collecting mail just as sailors used to do it in the 1700s and 1800s, making this the first mailing system in the South Pacific Ocean.
