Crossing 600 miles through unimpeded winds. Four thousand meters of ever-shifting water. Today we began our crossing of the Drake Passage, homeward bound from the Antarctic Peninsula. It is always a daunting journey, which places some perspective on our short and precarious land-tied human existence.

Briefly, we will share the world of wind and waves that nurtures the fragile storm petrels and the soaring albatrosses. It is a fitting way to end a magnificent journey through a world barely touched by man.
