Cabo San Lucas, Land’s End
Sunrise at Land’s End, the sky lit in salmon flesh hues
With a little Photoshop, you could change that to polka dots of blue
Setting moon sinking eastward, rising sun to the west
A judicious cut and paste and you can make a celestial mess
Such are our morning adjustments, on a photo oriented cruise
When creative minds with laptops tinker, creating pixel voodoo
The naked spine of Baja, exposed, eroded and tinted with bird poop
Undigested xenoliths, chocolate chips in a granitic based goop
Donning fins, wet suits, sunscreen and wide eyed snorkeled faces
We jumped into the sea, investigating salty places
As we bobbed, swam and floated, with striped fish swimming around
A predator zipped on by, a cormorant we had found
It dove in zigzagged pursuit, paddling with its massive web toed feet
And popped to the surface, a Moorish idol in its beak!
Now onward, seaward, northward! That is where we’ll afternoon sail
As we are looking for humpbacks, a most charismatic whale
Breaching whales popped skyward, why? We wonder of the connections
Making statements? Having fun? Or just checking wind direction?
Looking on with envy, at the splashing, flailing cetaceans
How can that tonnage get airborne, in such graceful configurations?
As you read this iambic nonsense, scratching your head in disbelief
Read the calendars date, and give a “Fools” sigh of relief.
