Bartolome and Santiago Islands

The two locations that we experienced today as part of our final visit to the enchanted islands were at their best. A hike to the summit of Bartolome volcano was invigorating, with colors and forms of the lava features as the main attraction during this hike.

After breakfast, we went out for another hike across a sand dune where we saw a nice amount of wild life, however, the glass bottom boat turned out to be one of the highlights for water activities. We saw a lot of echinoderms like sea stars and sea urchins, sharks, parrot fish, grunts, damsels, razor sergeants and the colorful king angel fish.

In the afternoon, we went to the western side of Santiago which encapsulates one of the most incredible intertidal zones of the Galápagos shorelines. Right after another snorkeling session, we had a hike among these tidal pools that were full of life. In these areas we got to see two types of barnacles, sea hermit crabs, coralline algae, and some very small fish like blennies, yellow tail damsel, black striped Salemas, black tail mullets, and several species of corals. Another attraction was the baby sea lions, some of them were just a couple of weeks old and their cute faces became the unforgettable memories of a great finale.
