Venice and Cerro Dragon
We had a great day to explore and observe the north western coast of Santa Cruz Island on two beautiful sites where we had an opportunity to discover the geology and the wildlife of the place.
This day was all about change, last week we still had all the incense trees (Bursera graveolens) dormant, and looking grey. This time all the plants looked verdant.
Everyday there has been amazing variation, from arid to green, from inactive to very vigorous, and this difference is produced by the presence of fresh water in the form of rain.
On this day we witnessed the awakening of life. On the trails we found new growing plants that fed insects, mockingbirds, finches and Galápagos land iguanas which were very plentiful all around Cerro Dragon; it is so great to see this happening now, this shows once more that no matter what, life always goes on.
This is the season when land species will be mating, leaving behind the dry cold months when food was scarce; and they have had to deal now with a couple of pretty dry years.
After snorkeling, kayaking, walking we came aboard and had a great time sharing together the best experiences.
