Boobies, boobies, everywhere. Now, don't you think of other things, because what you are about to read relates to the Blue-footed booby (Sula neuboxii). Today I have decided to tell you a story on the beautiful Blue-footed boobies we saw during this morning's visit. We must have seen at least two thousand birds! The story goes like this: Once upon a time there was a bird with blue feet. Since he was a booby, his parents decided to name him Blue-footed booby. As the bird grew older, he realized that his blue feet got the girls' attention. He then waited for one of them to approach him. Finally one female showed up and thought, "Hmm, what great looking feet! They are blue just like mine." They then started to show off their blue feet to one another. Dancing and sky pointing was part of his display to her. The female booby liked him very much and gave him the "Yes I do" answer, which was what he was hoping for. They then went on their honeymoon and of course they chose a cruise on the Polaris. Then it was time to incubate the eggs; a responsibility which they both shared. "It's a girl," they said, so they named her "Boobita". Boobita grew up to be a fine female and now she is ready to choose one responsible, hard working, daring and charming good looking young male (she is not asking for much)!
