Today was somewhat different. We spent the entire afternoon on the island of Santa Cruz. We landed in town, caught buses to the highlands, had lunch in the fresh air of Altair, (a wonderfully different restaurant), and visited everything possible. Some spent hours waiting for the perfect photograph of a tortoise. Others visited the Charles Darwin Research Station and the tortoise-raising center (named for a station employee of many years, vital to the success of this program) and got to see tortoises from many different islands. And some of us managed to fit in everything from tortoises in the wild, to a visit to the station, to a brief visit in town.
