Another great day on Fernandina Island! It is as if lately the youngest island is always waiting for us with a new surprise. When we go to Fernandina we are prepared for anything, from whale shark to bow-riding dolphins.
The Galapagos waters, and specially the western area, appear more productive than ever. I have noticed how important the submarine world is becoming to our guests, and to all of us.
The Polaris has several tools to enjoy it, like the underwater camera and the glass bottom boat. We go snorkeling everyday except for Wednesday, so our guests see as many species on land as below the surface.
Most of what we find on the ground depends on the sea, like boobies, pelicans, frigates, and the huge amounts of migratory birds we encounter during the Northern Hemisphere wintertime. It is a long list, therefore, the list of reasons to protect the oceans around the Galapagos is very long as well, and I am sure that the list of those who do something for the defense of this environment must be long too.
