Isla San Francisco

This morning as well as last night was windy so we took the ship to a protected anchorage along the west side of Isla San Jose and went for a hike along a dry riverbed, or arroyo. Along with seeing the great abundance of desert plants some of us made our way to the slot canyon that exists a mile or so up the arroyo and marveled at the sheerness of the walls and the exposed sedimentary rock in them. We also heard about the feral mammals that live on the island. After traveling south to the southern part Isla San Francisco which is known as Half Moon Bay, we snorkeled, hiked, walked, tidepooled, kayaked, and were stunned at the beauty of the sunset over the Baja peninsula as the light reflected off of the clouds that had been passing over us all day.
