Bahia De la Paz

Our final day of the voyage began with sounds from the approaching Baja Ferries ship making its way from the mainland to the city of La Paz. As the large ship tied up across the small inlet from us we could also see the setting full moon to the west. The first part of our day would be spent on day boats in the cool air of the Bahia de La Paz, the largest bay on the east side of the Baja California peninsula. We were in search of marine mammals or perhaps even whale sharks, the largest fish in the sea, our search found us a large group of common dolphins which played for a while in the bow and wake waves of our powerful boats. The light was perfect as we made numerous turns to see the dolphins. Later in the morning we stopped at a local beach to stretch our legs before heading back o to the Sea Lion for lunch.

After lunch and taking care of some ship board matters, transportation was provided for those who wanted to head into downtown for some shopping and exploring of the waterfront. A wonderful program of folkloric dance was put on by a local university group just prior to our appetizing Mexican buffet dinner.
