Isla San Marcos
In this beautiful island we had the opportunity to have a morning full of activities. We started our morning with the stretching class in the sun deck. Right after breakfast, we went on long and short hikes along the arroyo. During our hikes we saw some of the endemic reptiles and a blue heron nest. Meanwhile some of us went searching for invertebrates in the tide pools. We discovered some sea urchins, starfish and anemones, among other animals. We also had the opportunity to go kayaking in this beautiful place. While the sun was higher in the sky the day was warm enough to give swimming a try. Some of us went diving, snorkeling or swimming. Even though the temperature was 66ºF, the cold was well worth going in the water. The visibility was good and there were lots of fish and invertebrates to pay attention to.
We made our way cruising south with the Sea Voyager in the beautiful Sea of Cortes. We planned to spend the afternoon looking for marine life towards our way to Isla Tortuga. We made a quick stop at the beautiful town of Santa Rosalia in the Peninsula of Baja California where we spotted the church built by Gustave Eiffel.
The day went on, and we had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the sun deck, taking some sun or reading a good book. Just before the sunset we encountered a group of hundreds of common dolphins. They were enjoying being around us as much as we were enjoying having them so close. They were bow riding and jumping through the surface, one at the time or 5-6 all together. This group of dolphins escorted us on our way south and this with the sunset made the perfect ending for another day in Baja!!
But our journey wasn¡¯t over yet, more surprises were awaiting us. The dolphins where left behind and we returned to our exquisite dinner. When we where getting ready to have some salsa lessons to finish our day in Baja, we had the chance to enjoy the moon rising from the sea. A beautiful red full moon and its reflection on the Sea of Cortes.
