Today in the morning, after breakfast, we explored Urbina Bay on Isabela Island. As we arrived to the landing beach, we were greeted by a welcoming committee, composed by a large group of penguins, several brown pelicans and a nesting green sea turtle. Immediately after this wonderful close encounter with the local wildlife, we geared up for the hike, ready to see more. It seemed like Mother Nature really wanted to show us its great diversity, because we were able to find several giant tortoises, a Galápagos hawk and many land iguanas. Apart of encountering a lot of fauna, the hike led us through an arid forest situated right over an uplifted area. For some guests, it was hard to believe that only about sixty three years ago the area we were walking over was totally under water. Fortunately we found a lot of evidence along the way to prove it, including remains of the marine invertebrates that used to inhabit this site.

In the afternoon, we navigated up to Tagus Cove, and shortly afterwards we prepared several activities to maximize our experience, such as kayaking, deep water snorkeling, Zodiac rides and an invigorating brisk walk. The great views from the top of Tagus Cove accompanied by the great fauna along the shoreline, made our afternoon a very special one.

The day came to a close with a beautiful sunset near Fernandina Island. We are ready for more tomorrow!
