Welcome to one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet, the Osa Peninsula. The sunrise just above the mountains, and the scarlet macaws in the distance, gave us a welcome to this beautiful tropical rain forest.
The morning started with the visit to Caletas Private Reserve, located on the buffer zone of the Corcovado National Park. This reserve has become a mandatory stop on every one of our expeditions aboard National Geographic Sea Lion. One at a time the groups started their different hikes along the trails of this beautiful forest. Emergent trees, leaf cutter ants, tropical birds, and howler monkeys were part of the fauna that we all got to enjoy.
After the morning hikes and a delicious lunch, our groups got ready again for a second adventure. We repositioned our vessel right in front San Pedrillo Station at Corcovado National Park. This stop offered a unique experience to all of us. After a short hike along the Pargo River we arrived at a refreshing waterfall. The perfect way to end the day was taking a swim in the pristine waters of this river, right in the middle of the primary tropical rain forest.
After this very active day we all came back on board to enjoy another session of recaps and, of course, a delicious dinner.
