Today we explored the west coast of Isabela Island, one of the largest islands of the Galapagos. As we prepared to head offshore after breakfast, everyone was excited to discover this landscape and its creatures. We took off in our Zodiac, heading to shore to land on a black beach, which was full of turtle’s nests. During the hike we had the chance to see several finches and also a juvenile giant tortoise. We also surprised some land iguanas as they enjoyed sunbathing, then we walked through a lava field – it was out of this world! In 1954 there was an uplifting that left huge fossils of corals and other sea life skeletons, making the area a very unique stop on the hike.

After lunch we reached the anchoring area in which we will position ourselves to get off for snorkeling and kayaking activities: Tagus Cove. We went to the water to find some flightless cormorants, Galapagos penguins, sea turtles with other unique creatures of this area, all while enjoying the tranquility of this place. Just in the right moment we got offshore for the last time in this day to enjoy a short hike to reach a high point area, in which we were able to see the magnificence of Darwin, Wolf and Equator Volcanoes.

Another day goes by in such a wonderful place while the National Geographic Islander raised the anchor to reach other places in the Galapagos, our paradise…
