Our last day to explore the richness of the Amazon had arrived. With nostalgia, we started the day with a fabulous breakfast made by the hands of our expert, native Amazonian chefs. The river was calling us again. The skiffs were readied, and we boarded them and set off to enjoy the area one last time. Our destination was a wonderful creek with many stories to tell.
Birds flew by like they did all week. We saw one sitting on top of a large tree with a noticeably large and strikingly colorful bill. The guide said it was a toucan. What a privilege to observe such a beautiful bird.
The journey went on. The river is endless and majestic, harboring life of all sorts. Once again, the Amazon gave us the best gift – the gift of life.
We enjoyed a moment of silence to listen to the sounds of Mother Nature. It was sublime.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed the last outing of our journey. We visited a small community in the Amazon, where we were welcomed with a display of handcrafts made by skillful hands. This enterprise helps to support the community in this difficult and remote place. Our guests discovered a different culture with interesting traditions and a unique living style. Deep in the jungle, isolation forces people to learn survival skills like our ancestors did before they moved to live in urban sectors. It felt great to contribute to the economy by purchasing the people’s creations.
It was another wonderful day in the mighty Amazon.
